Duncan Meldrum spent thirty years at Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., including twenty as the chief economist. He created numerous industry forecasting models, developed a global country risk system, produced internal indexing systems that were used in productivity analysis, and developed pricing systems using government price indexes that set prices for contracts that covered billions of dollars of revenue in countries around the world.
Following his Air Products career, he directed the Center for Forecasting and Modeling at IHS Global Insight, leading research into forecasting methods, training IHS economists, overseeing the development of forecasting models, and managing the IHS EViews software following its acquisition by IHS.
Duncan founded Hilltop Economics in 2012 to provide a vehicle to more actively research forecasting processes and techniques that businesses could use in a practical way. He has helped companies understand the link between global macroeconomics and specific industry or company performance, understand the art of forecasting as well as technical forecasting techniques, and trained business users of the IHS EViews® and IHS Aremos® econometric software packages.
Hilltop Economics produces a monthly forecast of the global economy and semiconductor industry for the Econometric Semiconductor Forecast (ESF) produced by Linx-Consulting.
Duncan earned a PhD in Business and Economics (Lehigh University), an MS in Operations Research (US Naval Postgraduate School), and a BS in Operations Research (US Naval Academy). He is a Certified Business Economist (CBE), a past president and Fellow of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) and a member of the National Economics Issues Council, the Conference of Business Economists and the American Economic Association.
